Day 1
• The tour kicks off at 8 AM in Hamra, Beirut, Lebanon. Firstly, from there, we embark on a scenic drive toward the Syrian border and onward to Damascus. In fact, the entire journey, including the border crossing, takes approximately 4 hours. (also, we can pick up you from Damascus Airport) • Settle into your charming Old Damascene hotel and enjoy a brief rest before embarking on a captivating walking tour of the historic old town. • To begin with, we’ll start our exploration of the old town with a visit to the Ananias Church , Damascus’ oldest underground structure. Moreover, it is believed to be the remains of the home of Ananias of Damascus, where he famously baptized Saul, who later became Paul the Apostle. • Explore Straight Street (or in Latin, Via Recta), is the Roman street that runs from east to west in the old city of Damascus. What's more, it was visited by St. Paul as recorded in the Book of Acts and contains several interesting sights from the Roman, Christian, and Islamic periods. • We will visit the oldest cafe in Damascus (al Nofara) and listen to the famous storyteller. • Later on, we’ll head to Nanerj, the best restaurant in the old city of Damascus, for dinner. • After breakfast, we'll begin our full-day tour of Damascus. • Firstly, we'll explore the city at a relaxed pace, allowing ample time for photography and meaningful interactions with the locals. • The National Museum : Its visit provides an overview of the civilizations that have succeeded on Syrian soil. Specifically, it contains statues, seals, jewelry, masks, mosaics, tablets and weavings from the most important sites in the country. • Then, we will head to the Handicraft Market, which is home to some of the finest handmade goods in the Middle East. • Following that, we will explore Souk Al-Hamidiye: The most beautiful Souk of Damascus. Here, its shops display all sorts of goods, especially clothes, fabrics, pastries, and handicrafts. • The Omayyad Mosque , a historic site of worship dating back to the first millennium B.C, it was once a church and is now one of the most important mosques the world. • Azem Palace, a beautifully preserved example of a traditional Damascene house turned Ottoman-era museum. • We will visit the devastated Ghouta area, which was tragically attacked with chemical weapons by the Assad regime, a poignant reminder of the region's history and the resilience of its people. • We will visit Mount Qasioun, the highest peak offering a breathtaking panoramic view of the entire city of Damascus. • Furthermore, we'll also discover some hidden gems in Damascus, such as Al Qashleh Cafe , known for its vibrant atmosphere and popularity with Syria's younger crowd. Additionally, we’ll visit The Berber Shop, the only speakeasy place in Syria—offering a truly one-of-a-kind experience. • Lastly, enjoy an overnight stay in a boutique hotel in the center of the Old Damascus.
• Our first stop today will be Maaloula , a small Christian town that suffered immense destruction by ISIS in 2014. Despite this, it remains one of the most scenic villages in Syria and is the only place in the world where Aramaic, the language spoken by Christ, is still actively used as a living language; in fact, it is possible to hear the Lord’s prayer being spoken using it. • Then, we visit Mar Musa, a breathtaking 6th-century monastery perched among rugged mountains. Shaped like a towering fortress, this ancient site was founded by Mar Musa al-Habashi (Saint Moses of Abyssinia), who, according to legend, was the son of an Ethiopian king. • We’ll visit the ancient archaeological site of Ebla, home to the oldest preserved library of clay tablets ever discovered. Remarkably, these tablets were preserved by a fire that swept through the city thousands of years ago, offering an extraordinary glimpse into one of the earliest known civilizations. • Then, we will head to Aleppo, a flourishing metropolis since the 3rd millennium BC, Aleppo has been fighting with Damascus for the title of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited city. • Once we have explored more of the city, we'll enjoy dinner at Qurtuba, a renowned Syrian restaurant run by an Armenian family, known for its authentic flavors and warm atmosphere. • Overnight in a 4-star hotel in the center of Aleppo City.
• After breakfast, our first stop in the morning will be, of course, the famous, Aleppo Castle which stands in the middle of the city and dominates it from the height of its fifty meters. Furthermore, it has admirably designed towers and is distinguished by its entrances made with perfection to prevent any enemy intrusion, as well as its iron gates. • Then, we'll stroll through the market stretching from the front of the castle to the old city. • After breakfast, our first stop in the morning will be the majestic Basilica of St. Simeon, one of the oldest and largest church ruins in the world. Built in the 5th century, it honors Saint Simeon Stylites, who famously lived atop a pillar for decades in devotion. The site offers sweeping views and a deep sense of early Christian history. • We’ll explore the ancient church of Qalb Loze, one of the best-preserved examples of early Byzantine architecture in Syria. Dating back to the 5th century, this church is considered a prototype for many later Christian structures in the region, with its distinctive arches and unique basilica layout. • We’ll visit the impressive ruins of Apamea, one of the great cities of the ancient Seleucid Empire. Famous for its grand colonnaded street stretching over 2 kilometers, Apamea offers a glimpse into Syria’s classical past with its Roman theater, mosaics, and fortress overlooking the Orontes Valley. • We’ll stop in Hama, famous for its ancient wooden water wheels known as “norias,” which once played a key role in the city’s irrigation system. Set along the Orontes River, these iconic structures, some dating back to the Byzantine era, offer a charming and historic glimpse into Syria’s engineering heritage. • Overnight in a boutique hotel in the center of Hama City
• After breakfast, our first stop will be Shmemis Castle, This ancient castle, dating back to the 2nd century BC, is perched atop a volcanic crater and offers breathtaking views of the fertile plains that stretch across the surrounding landscape. • Following this, we’ll head to Raqqa Province, we will cross the border and secure an entry permit for the region before heading to the Tabqa Dam on the Euphrates River. The dam creates a vast lake and is surrounded by fertile agricultural lands, making it a vital area for irrigation and farming. • After that, we'll continue our journey to Jabbar Castle, This 10th-century castle, built on an island encircled by water, has been home to various civilizations throughout history. The island offers stunning views and is known for its many restaurants serving uniquely spiced Euphrates fish. We’ll enjoy lunch at one of these local spots and we also have the opportunity to enjoy a scenic boat ride around the castle and along the Euphrates River, adding a relaxing and picturesque experience to our visit. • Next, we will arrive in the city of Raqqah. • Overnight stay at a 3-star hotel in the heart of Raqqah City.
• After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the Black Stadium, a former I-S-I-S prison. The site bears powerful testimony to recent history, with haunting messages and drawings left behind by former prisoners on the walls. • We will engage with the local community and visit the main square in Raqqa Governorate, a central hub that reflects the city’s resilience and ongoing recovery. • Next, we’ll head to Al-Hasakah Governorate, where you’ll get to taste some of Syria’s most unique and locally crafted sweets, distinctive to this region. • Then we’ll continue to Qamishli Governorate, known for having the highest concentration of Kurdish population in the region. This historic fortress has witnessed the influence of multiple civilizations, from the Phoenicians and Byzantines to the Crusaders and the era of Saladin. • Next, we will continue our journey to the charming city of Lattakia, where the sea meets lush green mountains and a lively urban atmosphere. • After breakfast, we will depart for Ugarit, a historic coastal town north of Lattakia. Ugarit gained fame with the discovery of clay tablets bearing the world’s oldest known consonantal alphabet. As one of the major strongholds of the Knights Hospitaller—who also controlled Krak des Chevaliers—the two castles communicated via smoke signals or mirrors through Chastel-Blanc (Safita), a smaller intermediary fortress. Perched on a hilltop, Marqab Castle offers breathtaking views of the coastline. • we will visit Arwad Island, the only island in Syria, known for its charming narrow alleys and small houses enclosed within ancient walls. Measuring approximately 800 meters in length and 500 meters in width, the Phoenicians settled the island in the early second millennium BC. Today, Arwad is renowned for its handmade shipbuilding and thriving fishing industry. • Next, we will arrive in the coastal city of Tartous, where the vibrant atmosphere blends seamlessly with the sea. Tartous is renowned for its lively seafront, lined with dozens of cafés and restaurants offering stunning views and a relaxing ambiance. • Overnight stay at a 4-star hotel in the heart of Tartous City, offering a beautiful sea view.
• We will begin our day with a visit to Amrit, this Phoenician temple, located in Tartous Governorate, dates back to the third millennium BC. Its unique design features a central altar accessible only by boat, as it is surrounded by water within the temple grounds. The site reflects the grandeur of the Phoenician civilization along the Syrian coast. Notably, an Olympic stadium is situated nearby. • We then head to the iconic Safita Tower, a well-preserved Crusader-era structure located in the heart of the town of Safita. Built by the Knights Templar, this striking white stone tower sits atop a hill and offers panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Still functioning today as a chapel, it provides a unique blend of history, architecture, and spiritual heritage—making it one of the most remarkable medieval landmarks in Syria. • Next, we’ll visit Husn Suleiman, one of Syria’s most impressive and lesser-known ancient temples. Nestled in the mountains near the coastal region, this massive Roman-era site was dedicated to Zeus (known locally as Baal). It features towering stone walls, enormous columns, and intricately carved altars. Surrounded by lush forests and mountain views, Husn Suleiman offers a striking combination of natural beauty and historical grandeur. • Then, We'll drive through the picturesque rural villages of the Homs Valley, heading to the renowned , JARJOUR WINERY which is famous for its unique blue wine. Here, we'll enjoy a wine and cheese tasting, immersing ourselves in the flavors of the region. • After that, we'll continue our journey to Krak des Chevaliers, which is described by Lawrence of Arabia as "the most wholly admirable castle in the world." In addition, this medieval crusader fortress is one of the most significant and well-preserved castles from that era, offering a fascinating glimpse into Syrian History. • Following this, we’ll head to HOMS , the most affected city by the war, during our visit, we'll explore the Khaled Ibn Al-Walid Shrine and the St. Mary Church of the Holy Belet , two significant landmarks of the city, afterward, we will have Lunch in Homs City. • Overnight in a 4-star hotel in the center of Homs City.
• Breakfast at the hotel, early departure to Palmyra. • Firstly, we will visit the ancient city of Palmyra , Syria's most iconic tourist destination. Notably, once a key city on the Silk Road, Palmyra briefly ruled its own empire in the 3rd century, stretching from Turkey to Egypt.
